There are many advertising mediums, from television and online to print, direct mail and promotional products. But which of these media has the best ability to get your customers to take action? By far, it’s promotional products, according to a recent survey by the British Promotional Merchandise Association. In fact, more than 50% indicated promotional products were the most effective at spurring action, followed by TV (19.4%), online (11.2%), print (9.8%) and direct mail (8.9%).
Why are promotional products so effective? People remember gifts. In fact, 94% remember the advertiser who gave a promotional item or the product advertised after having it for six months, and 39% are more likely to use a business that has given a promotional product when the need for the advertised product or service arises, rather than a similar business that has not given them anything.
Moreover, two-thirds of respondents like to hang on to such gifts for more than six months, and 44% keep promotional gifts for a year or more. Fifty-four percent said they would go and get a promotional product that was being handed out, provided it was useful to them. Nearly half (46%) of people questioned said that they like receiving free products that have an advertising message, and exactly half (50%) would like to receive such items more often. Finally, 98% think that promotional products are not a waste of money. We couldn’t agree more.
